Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our extension

How does it work?
Our chrome extension finds every sensationalist clickbait news headline you see online and replaces it with a neutral, informative and unbiased one (as least as close as we can get) in real time. Basically, we let our robot friend read all the nonsense headlines, so you can take back a bit of sanity.

But specifically what are you doing?

Our AI reads every article it can get its hands on and generates a neutral headline for it. Then our chrome extension identifies clickbait articles in your browser and replaces the headlines with something more “boring” as the page loads. Specifically, we’ll replace headlines on the articles themselves and in any links to the articles (social media posts for instance).

Don't worry its not permanent, you can always disable the extension to get headlines back to their sensationalist norms.

Do you keep our data?
We are incredibly serious about your privacy, so we don't keep any data that ties you to your browsing activity. Here's the entirety of the data we retain:
  • Your email address for our mailing list when you sign up (you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete at any time)
  • An aggregate of traffic to specific news articles. We use this to make sure our service is working, and there is nothing tying that data to any individual.

But ummm… why are you doing this?
Because we're tired of it! We're tired of the yellow journalism, and clickbait economics of the news today. Its a whole industry centered around stealing your attention and profiting from your anxiety. For now, economic models aren’t changing, so the least we can do is to open up opportunities for a calm. Think of this as our little act of rebellion.
